Abstract

The objective of this research paper was to analyze the "Role of IMF programs in the Stabilization of Pakistan's Economy" during 1997-2016. For this purpose, we collected secondary data from Pakistan's economy survey, World Bank, IMF, Asian Development Bank. We selected eleven variables for our study. The GDP growth rate was taken as a dependent variable while, tax revenue as percentage of GDP, inflation rate, unemployment rate, budget deficit, official exchange rate, current account as percentage of GDP, exports, imports, and trade deficit as percentage of GDP, and external debt were taken as independent variables. We used trend analysis and ratio analysis techniques to analyze the data. The findings of this study show that the role of IMF-programs in stabilization of Pakistan's economy couldn't achieve desirable results.
